This Saturday (April 19), marks the official 20th anniversary of Nas’ classic debut, Illmatic. For the past two decades, the Queensbridge rapper’s LP has remained in the top 5 list of “best rap albums” of all time. The trends and fashion may have changed in hip-hop, but this album hasn’t gone anywhere.

In its honor, VIBE and Jungle went back to the very projects that raised Nas for a first hand tour of the hood.
